Where the Light Comes In - Giclee Print
This print of my original acrylic painting was inspired by my experience spending the first 25 years of my life in houses that weren’t warm and loving. Sure, there was love sometimes, but it felt more like a place to temporarily lay my head til I could get to school or work or anywhere else. It was where I felt profoundly alone. But I remember every once in a while I would see light streaming through a window and think about how ordinarily beautiful it was. And for a brief moment I would forget where I was. I’d forget the pain, the depression, the hostility, the fear - it all fell away, replaced by the quiet warmth of the sun. This painting is about looking for the light. The moment in time where the suffering and pain are temporarily forgotten. The moment you can take a deep breath and remember that in that cold, dark place, there’s still beauty where the light comes in.
